Design and Engineering process behind the Harley Davidson V Rod.

4/6 years it was one of the best kept secrets in motorcycling a Harley that was unlike anything Harley has ever built when was finally unveiled in the summer of 2001 the new bike came with a long list of Firsts Harley's first liquid-cooled engine its first exposed steel and aluminum body the first Harley to do one how 15 horsepower Straight Out of the Box they called it the V-Rod it all started with the idea of doing something that had never been done before for almost a hundred years Harley-Davidson had put out some of the most classic motorcycles ever built in many ways they became a symbol of the American Spirit itself Heidi's Harleys were so popular that you needed to be on a waiting list just to buy one despite this success Harley was losing ground to a new generation of writers more interested in speed that is Style at a meeting of her is product development committee the idea began to take shape was it possible to combine the best of both worlds speed power of a Performance Bike wrapped up in a style that was unmistakably Harley the top secret check was called damned P4 really it just sit in and reaching out to pay Britain even broader they serve customers everybody had their own concept and what this thing is going to be but we knew what the essence of the motorcycles going to meet me or Bare Bones powerful custom to get the performance we want it and acceleration we wanted there and all the things we wanted out of this motorcycle we realize we had to do something new to find something new they turn to Harley Superbike racing team which it spent years building and perfecting its own radical Racing Engine the VR 1000 until now every stock engine Harley has ever put on a bike have been air cool the racing teams vr1000 was liquid-cooled which meant I could rev higher and go faster and that was just the beginning your head dual overhead cam if it had four valves per cylinder it was a dramatic departure from our heritage Alison beginning of this new territory in the challenge were facing as you know how do we keep the allegiance of our tried-and-true customer Harley Owners for all their colorful lifestyles are quite possibly the most loyal customers of any product anywhere to risk in this project from the beginning was how could we make a bike that would I perform differently and be a very different type of motorcycle but one that's still says I'm a Harley recycling on the street add a screen Harley-Davidson when you've heard it had to say Harley-Davidson to pull this off the P4 project was turned over to Harley styling Department led by the legendary Willie G Davidson in order to keep this this bike a Harley and had to have the woman she touch that's something magic that we have that nobody else have set stats Cornerstone of the of this we don't often have the opportunity of concept in an entire motorcycle but this time we can really get into the details of the Willie G left Milwaukee in the late 1950s go to design school in California in 1963 The Prodigal Son returned to become Harley's first VP of styling where he proceeded to light a fire under the idea of what a Harley was supposed to look like in the 60s many Harley Owners were turning their bikes in the customized works of our bikes were being chopped apart Willie G was inspired he went back to Milwaukee to create the Super Glide the lowrider in a whole new style of bikes that came to be called Factory Customs it was a move that helped launch Harley-Davidson from the brink of bankruptcy to unprecedented success and for the next quarter-century he personally oversaw the design of every new model Harley turned out that gives little forward motion and a really borrow from drugs visually which I think of her exciting in the summer of 1995 Willie G and his team of stylistic on Harley's greatest challenge ever designing a brand new motorcycle from the ground up this long front is going to give the bike a side profile that will be very recognizable if we don't get the flavor at the body with some sense of where the body wants to be so then we can do the frame I want this vehicle to have that type of presents where you walk up to it and say that's the new Harley-Davidson wow send speed with a key design element the team found inspiration in another kind of racing bike dragsters lunettes have been Willie second-in-command since the late 70 drag racing motorcycles have a certain feel to them that's very low and long aggressive minimal so then that starts to create a sense of direction when you consider them on a reel looking at the side profile and the end Factory Kirk Rasmussen was brought on board to transform the ideas and sketches into three dimensional computer-aided designs and there's some interesting things going on from the side the youngest member of the team Frank Savage had joined the styling department just a few months earlier he would cut his teeth on a project that every young designer in America could only wish for the Chalet tomorrow the rate of the vehicle that's great. That was just so exciting that I can be at the ground level this thing and watch it rise just a dream come true I mean you can you can try lifetime to to get into a project like this in a 1/2 early on the came up with their own nickname for the P4 Digger the name Digger and has the right to the right song I think it fits the bike the process of Designing a motorcycle is a balance of Art and Science at Harley's newly-opened Product Development Center another team was being assembled a select group of Engineers it would be their job to turn stylings designs into a working motorcycle the job of keeping the project on time and on budget was given to Harley's chief engineer of motorcycles Pat Keller I was excited is this was a chance to do something really new and meaningful for Harley-Davidson and I was really looking forward to a chance to make some history with his project Jeff Romenesko would spent the last 6 years engineering Harley touring bikes was put in charge of that would build the befores chassis take a clean sheet of paper and develop only motorcycles just incredible to keep the project secret even from their families at this point no one could begin to Fathom the energy or the man hours it would take over the next six years to create this new Harley putting a VR 1000 race engine into a straight chassis meant that it was going to have to be quite a different from the traditional highlight one of the first challenges was understanding what has to be involved to make a Harley-Davidson Harley-Davidson how far can we take this clean sheet approach the first step was to put a vr1000 racing engine into the frame of a traditional Harley the sign Department came and took a look at it and then after about 5 minutes and we have spent Winks building it 5 minutes said this looks like a Softail with a liquid-cooled engine in it that's not what we want start over it really told us is very strongly what not to do the traditional look of a Harley was not intended for that engine that's kind of where we started to talk about well you know we need to do something completely different side it was also a practical problem the traditional Harley frame wasn't sturdy enough to handle the considerably more powerful engine to be fair and Powerful immune to the frame had to be very strong and very stable to have to work 2nd generation Harley engineer Rob Dennard who it started with the company as a summer in 12 years earlier just needed to look like a Harley we wanted the frame to be simple director we wanted the frame to enhance the engine Willie G wants said to me I want something that I can hang up on the wall that was a real challenge for us because what are something that you attach things to that provides structure that connects the front wheel to the rear wheel and we had to do all those things and make it look good at the same time after weeks of CAD drawings on a solution an elegantly curved double rail in a traditional Harley a single frame rail is hidden beneath the gas tank to accommodate the additional horsepower the P4 would have two rails they would run along the outside of the bike as a bonus Willie G in The Styling team love the idea decided we would just take advantage of that and try to make the frame apart of the stylet the only question was could it be built and the really are no straight or curved sections that are Define typical wine cigars sections adding a curve or a shape to it complicates the starter friends the problem was that Steel 2 can only be been so far complex curves require welding separate pieces together which makes for a weaker frame we're outside the tool bending manual at that point in time the engineer struggle to find a way to avoid bending the frame tubes to their breaking point they also began to ask him or basic question how well would their emerging design work on a real-life bike after the styling Concepts kind of got jailed we knew what we wanted to do with the frame who said you know we need to take basic concept and put it in into steel and actually run the motorcycle a crude version of the frame was welded together and Harley's machine shop and married up with a VR 1002 become the new bikes first working prototype I think we really need to fasters there I don't want to be worried about a pivoting on there I suppose you had to chat anyway to get the dragster looked at styling was asking for it wanted to see how far they could push out the front end on a motorcycle the more raked out the front end is the harder it is to handle to get the best of both worlds they offset the go between the steering head and the front fork they gave us the long low raked out front end look of the dragster custom motorcycle and still gave us the handling characteristics we need to be able to live with it everyday the product I brought them face-to-face with other issues to make room for the engines to large throttle valves the fuel tank had to move the challenge for engineering was if the fuel tank couldn't go where it usually went then where do you put it competitive analysis on other bikes in brainstorming session we realize that we can put that people under the seat with a big engine and a low frame there wasn't much room left for a gas tank we had an essentially a dragster will take that we had purchased just out of a catalog in one gallon of fuel another issue was a piece of gear no Harley had ever had to contend with before a radiator package that on the front in any way we could do I'm here to it it's going to be interesting to see what we actually end up with first incarnation of Harleys groundbreaking motorcycle is ready for its maiden voyage It Happened One quiet weekday afternoon way out in the country at Jeff romanescos house one very many homes and I knew nobody would be home at the time and cook down some brats and rode a motorcycle in the afternoon wasn't to refine machine but you could tell the potential the Prototype had one undeniable quality which facts are the best car trouble rushed so you didn't get blown off the back of the red star LOL it's pretty important we knew that this was going to be something special I always knew top secret High Performance Motorcycle codename P4 this would prove to be easier said than done Jeff Coughlin was part of the engineering team signed the daunting task of pulling it off with rice engine is newly wide open throttle all the time you're pushing the limits so you have very light components your only need it to last 400 miles to get you through that weekend race engines also required to meet us emissions and noise standards and they're expensive can cost anywhere from $40,000 to $100,000 to help turn the VR 1000 into an engine that lasted longer than a weekend and well it street legal speeds it was considerably less expensive Harley turn to one of the world's great engine makers Porsche show me games of the additional expertise to supplement our own so there more people looking at how to make the best product possible Porsches Engineering Services facility in Wysox Germany is renowned for its performance engine designs in late 1990 pics of team from Harley took up residence there to begin collaborating on the P4 meanwhile back in Milwaukee Willie G and his team of stylus began working on what the new engine should look like early imagery has always been a very strong beat win there's never any question that from this company in the engine's going to be a styled Masterpiece jewelry from a visual Point man's shape I think that works quite well and also it's it's it's very obviously a V-Twin they began by making a clay model of what they wanted the new engine to look like one truly stylistic touch that they added we're air fins or playing with all the way down and Mike scene with big  theater what are their biggest issues was where to put the water hose on a difficult issue in this one was how we going to get the water out of there the cleanest technical solution was taking that water straight forward towards the radiator and that would mean crossing over a cylinder at the base and that was not a good visual it did really was not at this coming right in front of a part of the engine that we spent time making love their solution was to reroute the hose taking it up and over the top of the engine it just seemed a crime to not split that thing in a symmetrical way and I think we made bkb engineering couple fits on that one of the things I liked about that is it's not the destination it's the journey Bank Savage built a full scale model using a fiberglass a couple of tires and a whole lot of modeling clay speed at which you can create things in Clay is analogous to the sketching out of paper the way I look at it they throw down clay but don't some lines feel like it and change it that quick you know we can have critiques and change things and heartbeats clay it can just happen like that okay next concept the 3D model should have very light on one of the bikes toughest challenges the Jaws pipes job assigned to engineer Mike next door I think some of the radii that we came up with their are tighter than we've ever done before you got some very minimal Straits injectable solution of your problem noise regulations it would have to be large enough to hold 12 liters of air the biggest exhaust ever on a Harley in engineering's initial blueprints it look both Mammoth and ugly Manos Mufflers location styling wasn't happy with the fact that we had to package 12 well for one thing but will soon when they got over that they knew that with that size and had to be the best looking sexiest exhaust system that we had ever put on a bike Alex Tyler's going to last year no matter what we do just came from a sketch that was doing some school really play around with quick shapes and gestures and and from there we got the schedule that's cool let's try that so I can go to the class how to start a I didn't see were looking at that in 3D versus a two-dimensional thing and realizing okay these things are pretty big as habits of the pipes are coming around and then just we got nothing there your we looked at that design and immediately would strike fear in the heart of any engineer because looking at the clay model it was beautiful it just didn't look through some is one engineer put it it was trying to fit 10 lb in a 5lb bag just remember that exhaust is such a big visual really a big but the biggest challenge that faced dialing and Engineering was just beginning the radiator we've never had a big piece of Real Estate hanging on our down tubes everything was concerned I think it was one of the biggest concerns we didn't want to just hang a radiator in the fur motorcycle goes everybody else does that they had to come up with a way to package the radiator so that it got enough air to cool the engine and also looked great the task of coming up with the initial design was turned over to engineer Joe Shaffer in CAD designer John Myers it had to be styled into a Harley-Davidson which meant that it had to be integrated into the vehicle being able to do that and still having a cooling system that was real fully functional had severe flowing and cool the engine were quite a challenge to get past I don't think we're going to get the airflow we need through the car and have to get outside further just make it logo and now the center we might as well not even have open in my life so freaking Stones going to have heartburn on my cuz I'm already an inch wider than they want it real early on we thought maybe the best way to make it as inconspicuous as possible it was to have it look like a piece of the body work on the motorcycle but like there's not a radiator they're literally hide the cooling system the first one we did was Tiny we love that a prototype radiator was tested in a wind tunnel to see if it got enough airflow to cool the engine it was a validation of the fact that we just didn't have enough airflow to cool part of the problem with the front tire the front tire actually acts as an air dam so as the motorcycle is moving all the hair that hits the front of the front tire had to get shot around to the outside the engineering suggested making the radiator bigger and adding Scoops to pull in air from either side of the front wheel editor's like big radiators out in the open and with lots of airflow to him like this and real gym at ripping and it looks like we did was we start compromising off Barkley this back where can we trim it like this I even with this but I'm coming back saying no Saturday wire got to be bigger I don't care if it looks the way it does this make it bigger and we try everything you can come in here and Vice President should come in The Styling department and look at it and just say no okay there are times when we would challenge them that there is just no changing the laws of physics and there were times that they had to remain adamant because there was no changing the laws of Willie 2 years into the project the designers and engineers and Harley's top-secret new motorcycle had succeeded in creating the overall look of the bike battle now was in the details engineer Mike next door took on the challenge of more than tripling the size of the prototypes 1 gallon gas tank you can create a bike that looks awesome but if you're only going to be 50 miles on a tank nobody's going to buy it are you still down on the shielding side are you still thinking of having something on the tank itself they wanted at least three and a half gallons but the tight space left no room for a traditional steel tank of that size Nick Stark suggested they try plastic plastic fuel tank at Harley don't typically go together but plastic had its advantages heat resistant be nearly seamless it was more durable and because it could be molded into every available nook and cranny it could hold almost four gallons of gas while The Styling team was kicking around another idea that I never tried before aluminum they recommended that we do the the sheet metal fenders and air box cover out of rock aluminum DeVos sections I really like the side elevation because it's it it's it slow and dimension this way and it has a lot of length we wanted to finish that would enhance stupid performance look when I think of a woman on his tank top Ferraris you think of racing Vehicles it's also a material that I think when combined with chrome has this beauty and simplicity aluminum is a wonderful material it's lightweight it's it's a corrosive resistant and so forth but it's very difficult to form into compound shapes frequently when you go down the path like that it is going to be difficult the reward thing it's going to be that much greater heart of the appeal of a Harley has always been the ability to customize it to make it uniquely your own and the V-Rod was no exception early on and its development another group of Harley designers focus on creating parts and accessories that would fit the bikes highly styled look without appearing to be an afterthought in the can solve the windshield they really wanted a pair that it's just floating in space that it's just there cuz she look at it from a profile view all you see is  lineage you can barely tell it's on the vehicle a bigger challenge was designing a saddlebag that didn't compromise the bikes lean strip down look the weather design challenges for the bags was there's no overhang for went to open properly are the engineers came up with this 4 bar linkage hinge when the saddle bag if you're looking at it from the side that actually lifts the lid off first and then pivots it forward the biggest hold up now was unfortunately the most critical part of all the heart of any Harley the engine when the first prototype finally arrived it was put in latest mock-up of the bike so it could be road tested for durability the very first running prototype engines that we saw or somewhat disappointing designing a motorcycle is much. Anthony designing a car for example the acceleration reach that this motorcycle has are much higher despite these setbacks Harley remain confident in the joint team's ability to tackle a Roblox ahead so there was a strong effort from both companies to reinforce the team we got a lot of Porsches best experts assigned to the project and I got a lot of involvement from Harley-Davidson and together we completely redesigned the engine from that and as you take two steps forward and Allison one back and sometimes to back and your heart starts to her a little bit all the time and how much more money is this going to take how much more time is this going to take the before was taking far longer than anyone had expected for every setback game of success for one the engineering team found a way to make a frame that had both the elegant curve styling wanted and the durability that the new engine demanded what is eliminated the wailmer and the two of Mark Shannon and things like that because it is now one piece we're actually making some pretty good progress I've been doing some research around different ways to fabricate materials and I came across an article around hydroforming hydroforming is a process that uses water pressure tube and in shape sections of pipe from the inside what does metal expand from Cheer like a balloon to perform out and fill out the cavity to represent the shape that allowed them to reduce the number of welds from 17 to see and it really gave styling that Jewel that they could hang on the wall unequally and genius solution was finally found for making a big exhaust look small with two Mufflers in the stylized shape styling head ask for there's no way that we were going to be able to form essentially in a spent shape it was physically impossible so we came up with the idea of a third volume the two pipes coming out from the engine feed into single chamber the so-called third volume creating a cleverly concealed extra space this third volume served as the chamber where we float 2 into 1 into 2 rolling Block the Romaine was getting the notorious radiator cover nickname Gumby's casket to both look good and to work without good air circulation the engine would overheat in Wind Tunnel test they found they could get air flowing to radiator they just couldn't keep it once we have these big air Scopes we can get them to grab their but the air would go in one side and out the other and a breakthrough finally came using an air scoop made out of a most unlikely material a federal express box professors at the wind tunnel introduced us to the idea of putting some Vortex generators into the back side of the cover of Vortex generator is a fancy name for a fin that stirs up the air show in cardboard for paint digital vans only did that created a turbulence in there that allowed more air to flow through the system and really improve the performance Porsche in German the engine team was finally on a roll a new prototype delivered in early 1998 was put into the latest mock-up of the bike the engineer's decided to put it to the ultimate Challenge Willie G's first ride the truth signature of whether or not this is a Harley Davidson is Willie Davidson when is first ride as I recall he was one of only two or three presidents that day that were able to ride the bike because quite frankly really broke the bike I laughed. Maybe wasn't so funny that day but there was a prototype and Harrison parts that were handmade and I managed to lock it in 4th gear and head had to bring it in but I got to ride it not a big smile from ear-to-ear even though he had broken the thing when he explain that this is an expletive Harley-Davidson we knew that we were onto something intake we don't want to challenge now was making an engine that would hold up for the long run as a benchmark to shoot for the joint engineering teams dusted the infamous test the test simulated a grueling trip from horses facility in wysock to Dusseldorf along Germany's notorious high-speed Autobahn and would get all elements out City speeds of climbing Hills of going to Corners good straight Audubon stretches of unlimited speed the folklore is if you can survive that test you can survive any text because it was Impractical to monitor the test on the actual roads it was run on an engine simulator call the dynamometer to pass the Ancients had to endure an obstacle course of wide open throttle in mountain climbing torque the goal was 500 hours really 21 days not it's probably got to about 50 hours before we started seeing some issues because it was in the car engine some suggested that a lower number might be more realistic argued that maybe this was too aggressive and you could say Okay $400 is fine you know we made it that far but we did not we said $500 for well over a year when Engine after another was pushed to the breaking point The Joint engineering team learn from each set back made improvements then try it again their tenacity paid off in March 2000 and then just passed the 400 our point and was still running paperwork calling on 20 minute intervals you know are we there yet are we there yet we're getting very close we're getting very closer all got have our fingers crossed that got off to such a difficult start wildest expectations cracking up one 15 horsepower and revving it over 9000 RPMs with the top speed of over 140 miles per hour it would be Harley's fastest most powerful engine ever it was so Innovative they decided to call it the revolution but there was still one small hurdle to clear parades this is also Harley-Davidson and if it's a Harley it's got to withstand parade Duty Tom that remained at that point was keeping the vehicle cool and idling conditions in left little room for a large cooling fan so Engineers tried to strategically placed smaller fans to put them to the that's they headed to the hottest spot they could find at the Arizona Proving Ground daytime temperatures can easily hit 120 degrees to test the bikes ability to stay cool at idle their first taken on a 50 minute warm-up ride on the 5 Mile track once they're warmed up their rolled into something called a heat shed temperature 100 degrees and then a vehicle is driven into a shed is nothing more than four walls and an open rough and it's closed for the hot sun coming down on the vehicle and the vehicle have to be able to idle for a period of time without either shutting down or overheating when the time is up the bikes are taken out in written for another hour in the Blazing heat then put it back in the shed disco's on all day to everyone's relief the bikes ran for 8 hours without overheating once the revolution engine had passed after nearly 4 years of design and Engineering prototypes of Harleys top secret Performance Bike had to face their toughest challenge yet months of real 5 durability test to guard against unauthorized publicity on the work-in-progress bike the distinctive aluminum bodies were spray painted flat black dreaming of someone dead photo it was going to be difficult for them to really make out the shapes the bikes were written as much 80000 mi in a variety of conditions to test which parts held up and which part did after each 8-hour shift the Riders got to give their opinions about what they liked and what will test for engine noise engine vibration suspension sitting position headlights mirror position it breaks acceleration you name it we run it through its phases in addition to they tracked the bikes were also run several thousand miles on the cooling pump course the point of us running that is try to put as much damage into that vehicle in the shortest amount of time as possible it shakes us the bike so we find failures out there they would find anywhere else to test for road conditions are harder to find in real life another group of prototype bikes were sent to Harley's test labs in Milwaukee the Reverb chamber is a copper lined room used to bombard the bike with a barrage of radio waves the test simulates environment you might see outside CB radios am and FM radio cellular phones anything that uses radio waves the idea is to test for every kind of electronic interference in tennis shoe. Weigh the bounce off the copper walls a rotating fan stirs the radiation into a full-scale bombardment for like a big microwave oven we often the joke that we could pop more popcorn here than anyone else if we wanted to each bike then spend a day in the hogwash for 24 hours straight 30 high pressure Jets of water blast the bike from every direction just to see if anything leaked or shorted out intrusion into the vehicle and speedometers into the sewer pack saddle bag and if I say we wouldn't want the water to be after the rinse cycle the first thing they checked was would it run text. what parts were pounded twisted and shaking and Harley structures lab for weeks on end purpose of the structures lab is to make sure that the components that go on a motorcycle or not going to fail in service he want to figure out what it takes to actually break it and then you also want to figure out how long it'll live with a normal input seal looking for the weak link the full vehicle simulator puts the bike on a bone jarring -ride oversee road course that includes endless bumps potholes and torn up pavement it goes on Non-Stop for 5 days parts were also tested for how well they held up against the elements metallic we had to figure out how to make it stay that way for as long as somebody on the motorcycle test Chambers subjected parts to endless pea soup fog in saltwater air Chevrolet Key Parts got to spend a few years catching Rays up on the roof of one of Harley's plants to see how they handle blistering sun and the grain but the real test of a Harley is what it sounds like we going into a lot of trouble to protect the sound of the motorcycle because Carly has a legendary song people talk about the sound of our bikes the bike sound was fine tune in Harley's anechoic chamber anechoic stands for a room without echoes in the room we have a robotic system that takes an array of microphones around the bike when we're trying to understand where a noise is coming from a little whistle or a little Tang we can create this holiday field around the bike and zoom in right to where the noise is coming from you can start Smithsonian in on things that just don't sound Harley covers that talk a little more than they should deers that me whine a little more they should go there though the first things we had prepped they also had to make sure the bike could pass new increasingly tough noise regulations the world throughout the planet they have different regulations that call for an accelerated test the track outside is a regulatory test track can we find the loudest sound pressure level nasty number that's reported it's really for me at the comfort of the people around you isn't Disturbed is the bike near completion Willie G's son Bill Davidson and other members of Harleys marketing department struggled with one of the biggest challenges of all what call it we had literally hundreds of names it actually took us over a year phone bill evrc I don't think we like that will know the minute you find one you like you find out that is trademarked in Japan we had one then we like them found out of his name toilet bowl cleaner in Europe so it's okay that one can't work was having a name that when you saw this name you could see this bike so the two were locked together have to come up with a lot of names and cuddling it down the one that kind of kept coming up with that people really started gravitate toward was V-Rod fee for the V-twin engine VR for the VR 1000 Rod towards dragster hot rod tile with everything finally of place it was time to gear off the assembly line both the engine in the bike itself would be put together at Harley's newest planned in Kansas City at the head of the Newbie rod assembly line will be the world's first fully automated pipe cutting robot using cameras for eyes it could recognize whatever length pipe it was given cut it with a Precision lathe the do its own quality check of the end result the successful partnership with Porsche continued the revolution engine would be built as a joint venture in the same plant as the rest of the bike so the V-Rod would going to full production until after the dealer show the assembly line had to be put through its paces setting up for mass production and adapting to an assembly line created new challenges for Harley because of the lean low design of the bike typical 250 engine into the frame the solution to removable rails they would also make it easier to service the bike it began as a simple idea now almost 6 years later after hundreds of unexpected hurdles and hard 1 breakthroughs after thousands of hours at both disappointment and success after millions of dollars invested in a melting of Art and Science the V-Rod was fine your reality the official launch of the V-Rod was scheduled for the annual Harley-Davidson dealer meeting held this year at the Los Angeles Convention Center for the team of Engineers and designers this was it they had set out to build a bike that was unlike anything Harley has ever made but that was also on mistake play Harley to respect the Great American tradition but also to grow and extend that tradition into the future it's been an emotional Journey that I will don't forget the fact that we have been able to execute a product that is this much different than everything else we've done is again a testimony to this organization I will always be proud of that this year there's some get back out there that I had something to do with every single part and I don't know how I'm going to react when you actually get on the bike and and ride it makes you so proud to know that this is something that we created from scratch I mean without us this product would not be here when you work together this long and this hard with this much passion you never forget it and we're taking it for granted just for someone to some degree and is seeing other people's responses to his is going to be fun. When I take that cover off at the dealer so I guarantee you that.
