Hello!
I'm Mrs. Ahlborn and I teach K - 4th grade general music and 5th -8th grade orchestra.  Almost the entire school!!  I love music and sharing it with Reagan Academy students!  
 
5th and 6th grade orchestra students will use the book String Basics Book 1 by Jeremy Woolstenhume and Terry Shade. The 7th/8th graders will be using String Basics Book 2 and String Basics Book 3. 

I love working with my students and watching them grow!

Mandalorian Theme song played by the 8th grade Chamber Orchestra

We loved playing the Mandalorian Theme song! There are some tricky rhythms in this song and our class rocked it! It's a different arrangement because it is all strings but so fun to play on our instruments! The percussion is the sound of students tapping the top of their instruments and the base of their stands. I didn't film the class playing it because the synchronization license to do so costs hundreds of dollars - however, I was able to obtain a mechanical license (you can see it at the end of the video) so that we could put the audio recording on our school website for a limited time.

Boreas, The Cold, North Wind by Todd Parrish performed by 8th grade Orchestra

Chamber Orchestra students recorded this piece in class and each student chose or was assigned 8 measures to find a picture that fits that section so that we could make a class video. Ask your student which picture is theirs and how they interpreted their section. This piece has a copyright permission by Alfred Music - BOREAS - Synchronization_201109_25 to be on my website for 1 month. Enjoy!

"Scoo Bee Doo song" composed by Susie Davies-Splitter and Phil Splitter

We had such a great time playing this song and improvising (making it up as you go) with it. Jazz is so much fun!

Beyond The Thunder by Deborah Baker Monday

This was a great song to learn tricky rhythms! Sounds cool too!

Indian Dance by Bela Bartok arranged by Jack Bullock

This is a fun song that helped us learn 2/4 time and 8th notes and rests.

Old Joe Clark performed by the 6th grade Orchestra

This is a fun little Bluegrass song we just learned last week! Keller Hales opens it and Micah Harding does the finish - nice little solos!

Blues for You

This is an audio performance video of the 8th grade music AT's performing a piece called Blues for Four by Mike Christiansen. There are four guitar parts to this song. They did a nice job and as you can see in the video I am going to use their recording as part of my unit on the Blues and Jazz. Thanks ladies!
