Hello!
I'm Mrs. Ahlborn and I teach K - 4th grade general music and 5th -8th grade orchestra.  Almost the entire school!!  I love music and sharing it with Reagan Academy students!

K-4th grade will each be given their very own percussion kit the 2nd week of school that they will need to bring to music class every week.  (Don't lose it or you will have to make your own or clap the rhythms while the class plays them.)  If possible, please send a box of crayons and a pair of scissors for your student's music kit that they can use in music class.  Students are welcome to add to their music kits anything they feel they need to succeed in music this year.

For 6th grade orchestra the new book is String Basics Book 1 by Jeremy Woolstenhume and Terry Shade. The 7th graders will be using String Basics Book 2 and the 8th graders need String Basics Book 3. 5th grade is using String Basics Book 1.

I love working with my students and watching them grow!

Please watch my "Back to School Night Videos" for K-4th grade, 5th grade orchestra and 6th-8th grade orchestras before your students come to school!

3rd Grade Music for week of March 16 - 20

Hello 3rd graders!
Happy St. Patrick's Day on Tuesday March 17th!  Here are some videos about the history of St. Patrick's Day.  Notice this video is a ballad (a song that tells a story).  We've talked this year about how holidays bring family, food, music and traditions together.

5th grade - Intro to Noteflight instructions

Hello!
5th graders are expected to practice 15 minutes every school day pages 1 - 25 in their String Basics Book 1.  I invite your students to get on Noteflight this composing program and get to know it.  Instructions are in the file.  Please have your students email me with questions.
Blessings,
Mrs. Ahlborn

Middle School Orchestra Students - great news!

Noteflight has a music library with a lot of music that we can access for free!  They are digital copies only so we can't print them but you can open them, play along with them, change the melody to your clef so you can play the melody with an accompaniment.  Will you go into Noteflight and at the very top of the page, you see the icon that looks like an open book and open it?  Click on the orchestra library and have a look around!  I will be assigning my 7th period the score of Phantom of the Opera to look at next week (unless you want to sneak a peak now!)
