This is a short little piece that we play in a four part round so you will see and hear students starting and ending at different times.

Our Flag - The Red, White and Blue audio for 5th graders

We will be singing this song at Veteran's Day and at Hope of America.

Mrs. Lewis' class performing "High C"

This is what an instrument circle looks like. Students will read the music posted on the board and play with the accompaniment while tracking the conductor with their eyes. Third and Fourth graders learned the notes on a C major scale with the xylophones and boomwhackers. They practiced the rhythm of the notes on the buckets and woodblocks. Notice the procedure of how students clap the beat while moving to the next instrument. We do this four times that way they get to play on all four types of instruments. Such repetition is called "practicing!"

5th grade's First Hot Cross Buns

One of our first attempts at playing Hot Cross Buns. Sorry the viola's were in the other room with a private tutor... We'll get them next time! Great job 5th grade orchestra!

Composing in 7th and 8th grade

Your 7th and 8th grade students have access to a great composing program called "Noteflight."  The school has bought a subscription for your student to use.  I can access what they are writing and not only see it but hear it too.  Please allow your student to compose using this free program for them.  The link is in the post below.  Your student just puts in their first and last name with a space between.  Their first and last names need to be capitalized.  Many of them have changed their individual passwords.  They know what the general school password is to put in.  If you have any questions or concerns - let me know!

Noteflight composing program

Here is the link for students to access the FREE composing program called Noteflight.  To be able to send scores to me they need to put this in their address bar:

reagan-orchestra.sites.noteflight.com

To login go to the right hand corner and login using their username which  is their name and the password is labuser.  I have set this up for 7th and 8th graders to try.  If your student would like to create another account they can access noteflight.com.  There are also free phone apps for this under noteflight.

Good luck composers!

This week in elementary music we made living sculptures while listening to classical music.  One student suggested we make frozen statues of what Reagan Academy students do.  In this pictures we have some students playing soccer while others are playing volleyball.  In another picture students are playing musical instruments.
These are the unclaimed violins left by students.  Please have your student take them home before Friday.
Thanks!
