I've been trying to teach this Christmas round to the children and this group did exceptionally well at it - especially for a 1st grade class!!! Way to go students!!

Your 5th grade students learned this song in 2 class periods! It's titled "Bile'em Cabbage Down and is a bluegrass song. When I teach this every year, I get choked up watching your amazing children learn to play an instrument and love it!!!

Mrs. Lewis' class singing "This Little Light of Mine"
We talked about Dr. Martin Luther King and African American Spirituals and Gospel music in class today. The children composed rhythm patterns with some of Dr. King's words and we created a song using "This Little Light of Mine" as the Chorus with their rhythm patterns as verses. They are supposed to jump randomly on "Shine!" I love their enthusiasm!
