We learned how to sing and play the Native American songs "My Paddle" and "Land of the Sivler Birch" on multiple instruments in preparation of learning how to sing and play them on the guitar.

Your 5th grade students learned this song in 2 class periods! It's titled "Bile'em Cabbage Down and is a bluegrass song. When I teach this every year, I get choked up watching your amazing children learn to play an instrument and love it!!!

Mrs. Lewis' class singing "This Little Light of Mine"
We talked about Dr. Martin Luther King and African American Spirituals and Gospel music in class today. The children composed rhythm patterns with some of Dr. King's words and we created a song using "This Little Light of Mine" as the Chorus with their rhythm patterns as verses. They are supposed to jump randomly on "Shine!" I love their enthusiasm!
