Extra Credit Opportunity! Through the 21st of December

Hello and Happy Holidays!
'Tis the season of giving and service. With that in mind, I think it's a great time to do something that helps out our community. I'm offering 15 extra credit points in my class if students do something that helps out the community through an organization of their choice. If they can provide photo evidence or an email from their parents/guardian describing/showing what they did through an organization I will count it! I think things like the 12 Days of Christmas and Secret Santa are great, but that's not what this activity is about. It's about serving the community through a charitable organization of your choice in an offered way. So, I'm sorry, those activities are great, but will not be counted in this activity.

11/27-12/1/2023 Monday-Friday

Hello Everyone! I hope you all had a fantastic Thanksgiving Break. For the remainder of term 2, (and maybe even a little of term 3) we will be reading a class novel, Treasure Island. This is a great classic piece of literature that formed our ideas of pirates today. It's a fun adventure and I feel like it has something everyone can enjoy.

This week we are going to get a bit of background into the life and world of a pirate by doing a bit of research through an in-class project. All this week, students will have different avenues of research they will conduct about the pirate world and then take that information and turn it into a brochure or newsletter to display their learning. Students will then share their creations with their peers who will then help grade them using a rubric given with the project. The project will be due in class on Friday (Dec 1)
