About Mrs. Bailey

Hello! My name is Sarah Bailey and I'm excited to join the Reagan team. I was born in Sammamish, Washington, and then moved to Nauvoo, Illinois right before I started middle school. I met my wonderful husband, Christopher, at BYU and we are celebrating our 3rd anniversary in August. I've always had a deep love for math and science and couldn't be more excited to be teaching these subjects in 6th grade.

 

For math, we will be digging deeper into the topics you learned in math last year (fractions, ratios, coordinate planes, finding unknowns, etc.). For science we have four main topics: atoms and energy, weather, the solar system, and ecosystems.

 

I’m a huge believer in a growth mindset, and as such I don’t see failure as bad! Learning from our mistakes is a wonderful thing and it allows us to truly take responsibility for our education. There is power in letting students make choices and facing the consequences that come. I will use humor and empathy, emphasize respect and dignity, provide limits, and teach consequences as well as healthy decision making. I will maintain high expectations and explain those expectations clearly. I will talk with those students that aren’t living up to expectations to understand why and help them make necessary changes.
