welcome to how to set up your science notebook we're going to do some class of course but let's say you're having to do this later in the school year is to reset your is up or you just want to know early that's how it's going to work out we're going to go for the initial setup then after that everything kind of Falls in place what kind of book should I start with for science I cannot stress you things and the notebook to buy should be a single subject notebook it could either be one of these you know cardboard cover one subject really simple I just chose like a generic picture and Brandy on top right notebook or poly cover plastic notebooks I want works now both the ones I've shown you are single subject that do not contain any divisions to make him to a multi subject notebook those are just too small the sections are too small. have enough sheets of paper and you end up using having to use two sections to do your science notebook and it just makes it hard it's a compromise which means not the best for anyone the best way to get a single subject notebook and you'll have a better time deposit ones do survive better that's why I kind of pushed down but they are more expensive so I get it your notebook needs at least 70 sheets of paper inside it in a single section so it's like it has three hundred pages but divided into five sections will each section has about 60 sheets of paper that's 10 to few it won't last a whole school year so make sure it has seven sheets of paper at least in it preferably all in the same section if you get one that's about dividers with in it but the best thing don't get motivators all right I'll just put these pictures I snapped is on my desk this is the third time I try to make this specific video it's been really weird so this format little bit different but it still works right the front cover of your notebook I have it simple I've made the out on the outside cover I labeled it I wrote science just goes most you know but you can look very similar in your locker when you go to get them if you don't coordinate a lot of students like the car I like blue and notebooks are blue which is fine but you don't want to run and science okay I'm on time and get ready and you open up like oh this is my English notebook doesn't help you you need the right one so I have to the outside cover on the inside cover you're going to put a score sheet I will provide this for you it's a half sheet of paper that we're going to glue on when we grew into the notebook we will try to use as little as possible so doesn't actually end up working Pages too much and definitely don't want your gluten multiple Pages Igloo together which can happen if you use too much five small drops for in the corners when the center spread with your finger tends to do awesome so that's the scoresheet on the front cover if you have a plastic turn off book you can't glue to the front cover you'll have to tape the glue doesn't hold it may look at you hold the moment that plastic bins it just popped right off page numbering and the title sheet every page needs a number in The Notebook please do not number for ahead of us I'll let you know how far is the number figure out at 3:30 on McCain number now from Pages 20 to 35 cuz I kind of have a range how many pages I expect us to use in the next 3 or 4 weeks if you need to spend a lot of time number play specifically to tear a page out by me otherwise you need all those papers in the notebook cuz we will use front and back of almost every sheet of paper in that 70 sheet notebook last year we used the front and back of 63 of them so there was seven left at the add a page numbers near me marks in the top outside corner so that we know what that looks like in the pictures I've taken I've circled the numbers each time so you can see how they're going to alternate in the when is that is that if you're looking through your notebook and your kind of flipping through it with just a little bit open look at top corner you can flip it and see all the page numbers if the numbers are right at the crease by that spiral you have to open up a fully to see those numbers print page one is a title sheet this one you're making us your title page it's got your name what class it is is so here I will have named blank but the class is science for example the teacher is Mr who will phone number for my room is 144 this is designed so that if you were to lose your notebook there is a myriad of ways that someone could get it back to you when they opened up and saw what it was for they see our name and part 2 I just used an old disclosures if you actually read carefully the two pages of the same stuff that one has a 2 in the top left when it's at 3 in the top-right will Circle than top outside corner I'll be putting an updated disclosure but this is an older one I wanted to use for the set up pictures like that so just mr. cool science classes Dozier so I can put that in your notebook so you always have the disclosure that you could reference to case you have questions as to class policies pursued alright ages four and five on page for going to glue on a table of contents I meant to say this to what the last page of those on my break when we go on a page we do five small drops and then spread if you look at these pictures you can kind of see where I glued on the table of contents I did only five smoke drops and I spread it out but even still you can see a tiny bit now on page 5 what the what to say instead of I don't know you can't see it it just the way it works is a little bit thicker I really do try to keep it consistent like that you may also notice in the pictures that you can't see the holes in the paper are in a notebook for the spot for you to put it into a binder if you're really concerned about those you might want to be careful and figure out where you're going to glue stuff in initially so that you can push through those papers and still put your notebook in a binder my page 5 has no possibilities you can probably tell that all these pages had to be trimmed down to fit into the notebook they won't fit fully normal for a standard notebook the large plastic ones are eight and a half by 11 size paper so they actually do fit without trim them down but you can't see the page number so you got to trim down a page number I feel to the page 5 I trim down that what to say instead of I don't know a little bit extra to make it so I can see the five now it's hard to read the five cuz I use Sharpie for the numbers because I was trying to make it big invisible for you also wouldn't do that with my own notebook because as you can see they play through the page and make it hard to read ideas like to add pens to my that don't bleed through pages 6 and 7 are labeled starter is this where we put our Bell starters for the first three weeks of school so I just put the page number or 7 in the top outside corner and then I label it starters and this these pages are done I really faster easy you can see how to start it from page six you can see there's a little bit of crinkling from a glue from the page behind that's another big reason to be careful and use very little amounts of glue and glue into your notebook because it makes the page behind it also really hard to work with so the less you can do is just a hold but you'll have a much better time using it in the future that is only 2 more parts of the notebook that we can do for that is the back cover on the inside of the back of a riddle to trim down very tightly what we called a Vita teacher page which should be explained in class but you turn that down to fit that goes on it inside of the back cover and then the outside of your back cover is blank both the front and the outside the back cover have nothing taped or glued to them that I've assigned you to tape or glue that way you don't lose anything if you tried to tape or glue your score for example to the outside of your cover it's much easier for the get ripped off than that cuz that cardboard cover or the plastic cover protects it keeps it nice and safe so we don't want anything sticking on the outside we don't want any paper sticking out of the nobody's here tiny bit of a paper sticking out the outside back of the cover and that could that's probably just from the weight of hit notebook was laying on the table I try really hard not to mention stick out this paper that stick out of a notebook stopped in things like zippers they get wrinkled they get messed up to get torn it just looked bad we don't want those wet everything contained within a notebook for Science and I hope that you guys are ready
