Writing

 

 

We have three main areas of focus in Writing.  First, Opinion writing.  This is challenging at first but we have found that they students really enjoy it once they get started.  Next there is Informative writing.  This can also be challenging but because it is connected to high interest topics it is always a favorite.  Finally, there is Narrative writing.  Many times this the students feel most comfortable with this type of writing.  We will be challenging them in their sentence structure and formatting.  We will also tap into their imaginations and hopefully help them develop solid story maps.  

 

There may be times we ask for help from you as parents.  It is very hard for me to meet individually with each student each week but I do focus on meeting each students needs.  I will keep in close contact with you concerning your child's progress.  We have been adding rubrics in our writing so that each assignment should make sense to both students and parents.   

 

If your child gets behind in writing, I will do my best to keep them caught up.  If I can't get them caught up I will be sending the assignment home with your child to finish up.  I will contact you if the occasion arises.
