Lost and Damaged Library Items

How Do I Pay for Lost or Damaged Library Items?

The replacement price of each book is determined by calculating the list price of book (the price of the book when it is not on sale) + $3 for library materials used to get the book ready for checkout such as book covers, stickers, tape, etc.  There are four ways to replace a book.

Cash

send cash in a sealed envelope and deliver to the classroom teacher or to the library - Please include your child's full name and that the cash is for a lost/damaged book.

Check:

Send a check with your child and deliver to the classroom teacher or to the library. You may also mail a check to: Reagan Academy Library, 1143 West Center Street, Springville, UT 84663. Please indicate on the check your child's full name and that the check is for a lost/damaged book. Checks should be made payable to Reagan Academy.

Credit Card:

You may only use a credit card at the front office and the card must be present.  Please let the front desk know that the payment is for a lost/damaged library book and tell them your child's name. Please be aware that the front desk is not allowed to take credit card payments over the phone.

*Self Replacement (Saves you money):

Because the library cannot control fluctuating book prices, we must charge the list price for each book (the price of the book when it is not on sale).  Often, you might find a replacement book for a better price than what we list. If you choose to replace the book yourself, we waive the extra $3 fee for library materials because of the time and effort it saves us in locating/reordering the book. Please note, if you choose this option and the missing book is later found and returned to the library, we cannot issue a refund. In addition, replacement books must be in "very good" condition or "like new," and should be in the same format as the lost or damaged book, for example, please replace a hardcover book with a hardcover book. Return the replacement book to the library with a sticky note on the cover (or insert a paper sticking out) that lists your child's name and that the book is a replacement book. Please write the note before you put it on or in the book. Do not write the note on the book, as this indents the cover and or pages.

* If you replace a book that later comes back to the library, we cannot issue a refund.
