Dear Orchestra Parents and Students!
I am so excited about our new music book, String Basics, because it includes an amazing computer program for your student to practice with at home. I encourage you to download this program on your home computer and allow your student the opportunity to learn and grow from this inexpensive music program. I would like to use this program as not only a way for enhancing your student’s practice experience, but as an assessment tool that will save invaluable class time when your student can email me their playing tests from home . Many companies charge $35 and up for this type of program, but it is included free with the purchase of your book .
Here is how you download the Interactive Practice Studio to your computer.
- Go to kjos.com/ips. This screen will open up to the interactive studio.
- Click on the sentence “I am using the IPS for the first time and want to download the software”.
- A new screen will appear and will ask you for your “User license code found on the User license card on the inside back cover of your book”. It is behind the card that says IPS User license and is a 16 digit code.
- Enter that 16 digit code and hit submit and you should be on your way!
- When you are entering your email in the program, I suggest using one of the email sites they list. Please have your students enter [email protected] for my teacher email that they will submit their music tests to.
You do need certain system requirements for this program to work. If you are having difficulties loading the IPS program, please click on the FAQ button on the Interactive studio website. It has a lot of great tips including what system requirements you need on your computer to make it work.
I cannot stress how wonderful this program will be for your student if they are willing to work with it! Because students can record themselves and listen to themselves, I can foresee better intonation and rhythmic pulse as just a few benefits of practicing with this program. We use it daily in the classroom and your student should be comfortable using it in your home.
Please let me know your feedback as we explore this new curriculum this year!
Thanks for your support!
