Things are going great, and we are back into a routine of things! Each student has been placed in a math class and a reading class. They will be able to progress and get the appropriate learning for them! If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to me. I am blown away by the parent support from this group. I am so lucky to have so many amazing parents rallying around me. I appreciate you and all you do as you raise these awesome kiddos! 

 

Our reminders for the week: 

1. We will be having MAP testing on the following dates: Aug. 30th, Sept 5th, Sept 9th, and Sept 11th. Please make sure your student is here so we can get their testing all done. 

2. PLEASE make sure your student is turning in their reading and math homework1

3. Desk items: There has been a lot of students playing with their scissors, pencils, and erasers. If you are able to provide a pencil box, that would be great. If not, I have a pencil bag they can put their materials in. 

4. No School on SEPTEMBER 2ND

Due to a new law that went into effect on May 1, 2024, all volunteer’s must do a fingerprint background check.  This is for classroom, library, field trips and any volunteer that will be in contact with students.  If driving on a field trip, the following information must be submitted no later than 2 weeks prior to the field trip.

o   Copy of Current insurance policy with the state minimum liability coverage.

o   Copy of Current vehicle registration.

o   Copy of Current driver’s license with no restrictions

o   All drivers must pass a Defensive Driving Test that is sponsored by State Risk Management.  Proof of passing the test must be provided to the school.

o   Fingerprint background check.

With the new law, please have parents submit the background check information ASAP.  If you have any questions, please let me know. 

I deeply hope that your student is enjoying school and my classroom. It is fun to see how they are interacting with their peers and watch them learn new material. I am still a bit concerned about the amount of chatting there is. Please have a chat with your student about how to be respectful when a teacher is teaching or when a peer is talking. If there are any concerns or questions, please reach out. I enjoy talking with you guys. I am amazed at the parent/guardian support within our class. I appreciate it so much. Field trip Reminder: Our first field trip will be Wednesday October 9th from 9:50-11:30 to the Farm Field Days. If you are wanting to drive or have volunteered already, you need to get your fingerprints done NOW!

 

Quick reminder: Library is on Monday's each week. It is important that students remember their book because they won't be able to call home to have you bring it, and they won't be able to check out a new book. There was a bright, green bookmark with the same information on it. (It was sent home on Tuesday last week.)

I can't believe we are already in the 2nd week of September! We have a fun science activity this week that I am so excited about! 

 

Reminders for the week: 

1. WE STILL NEED FIELD TRIP DRIVERS: I still need another 2-3 drivers. Please double check that your fingerprints/background check is complete. You won't be able to help us out if it isn't complete. 

2. Make sure you are checking your students' star folder for any homework. 

3. If you would like to help volunteer in the classroom on Tuesday and/or Thursdays from 11:50-12:30 during our reading class time, it would be greatly appreciated. These are the times that my reading class has their rotations. 2 of the rotations are done independently. You would help them get logged onto to Lexia and help them stay on task with their spelling practice. 

4. Picture Day is September 17th.

Parent Teacher Conference Week & Field Trip Week!!

1. Field Trip October 9th: We are going on our field trip on Wednesday. If your child needs a booster seat, please make sure you send it with them to school that day. 

 

2. Parent Teacher Conferences: I am so excited to meet with you this week! Conferences are on October 9th and 10th. The 10th is an early out day for this reason.

2. Family Skate Night: October 22nd from 4:30-8:30 at Orem Classic Fun Center

 

Last week of October and that means HALLOWEEN! I hope everyone has a fun and safe week. 

 

 

1. Halloween Party: 10/31 from 1:30-2:30. We have all the spots taken to help so thank you to those who have volunteered!

 

2. I just wanted to brag about our class. They are so amazing. Our class has been working really hard to be professional 2nd graders and it is working. We had a fire drill last week and I think we were the quietest class out there. They followed directions so well. I am so proud of our class and all their hard work. So many have been working on staying on task and being respectful to everyone and it is so great to see them work so hard. I love our class!

I am so thankful for the feedback I received at conferences. I am so incredibly sorry for slacking on the newsletters and updates. I tend to forget a lot, so I now have a sticky note on my computer to help remind me. I also have been trying to figure out if these newsletters are being seen, or if people prefer the app over the website. I will do my best to update both, but I will tell you, the app is game changer. You should try it out. 

 

1. Valentine's Day Party: February 13th from 1:30-2:30pm. Students are welcome to bring Valentine's to pass out and they can bring a box or bag to put them in. 

2. No school: February 14th and 17th

3. Math Homework: Each math teacher is the same, the fact homework is due EVERY FRIDAY FOR FULL CREDIT. 

4. Kindness: Please remind your student to be kind to those around them. There have been several fights and unkind words spoken.
