Dog and Cat Video and Picture Drawings

This post is just to remind students to be thinking about their Make Project (and you can also start it whenever you want). It will be due close to the end of the school year (probably May 12th). As you decide what you want to do, keep in mind the requirements:

1) Has to be something new to you (something you've never done before)

2) Has to take a minimum of 7 hrs (there is no maximum)

3) You have to record the process somehow (the most common way is through photos, but you can take video if you want)

4) It cannot "dovetail" with anything else (meaning, it can't be a project that you are using for my class and another class).

Art Class Supply list

Hello! This year, because of the unique situation we have due to COVID-19, we can't share classroom supplied art materials. For this reason, each student is required to have their own pencil and coloring supplies when they come to art class. Please see the attached pdf file (the title of this post is a link to it) for examples of acceptable coloring tools.

Extra Credit for 6th-8th grade 2019-2020 - museum visit

This document explains the extra credit that I allow each term. The student must visit a museum or gallery (like the Springville Museum of Art, or the BYU Museum of Art), and pick one artwork to analyze and write about. The document gives suggestions of what you can write about to meet the 400 word minimum requirement. It must be typed up and turned in, or emailed to me at [email protected]

Welcome Ms. Annie

Ms. Annie has joined our classroom as of this Monday. She is here from BYU completing her student teaching. I always enjoy having BYU Art Ed students come to teach in my class because I always get fresh new ideas of fun things to teach my students. I look forward to what she has in store for us. Oil Pastel Still Lifes, 1st-2nd grade

1st and 2nd grade students are learning what a still life is, and they created their own using oil pastels. Some of these are currently displayed in the hallway to the lunchroom.

Chinese Bamboo Brush Painting, 3rd-5th grade

3rd-5th grade students learned how to use a bamboo brush on rice paper to create some simple black and white images of nature scenes. Painting bamboo plants was the most popular. They also learned how to write their names phonetically translated into Chinese.
