October Parent Teacher Conference

With Parent Teacher Conferences tomorrow I am looking forward to meeting with all the parents who can come. I understand that it is a sacrifice at times to come during what is normally work hours for many, and in a way to say thank you for that sacrifice I offer 10 points extra credit to the children of those parents.

Some expectations for when you come.
  • I hope to hold each meeting to about ten minutes
    • I may have a timer out to help me to stay focused.
    • If I have your child for multiple subjects or multiple children it may take longer.
  • I will have a progress report for your student that will be printed out the morning of the 24th.
  • If you are bringing children, who are not students of mine, please keep them from roaming the classroom as I may have equipment or lab materials out in preparation for the next day.
Hope that helps everyone, and I am excited to meet with as many as I can over the two days.

End of Term 3

Term 3 is almost over and I wanted to let everyone know about due dates. All grades for my class are due on Tuesday Mar 13th. The grades are to be locked that day after school, I will make sure to grade and record all work that is turned in before the end of school that day. Also if any students have Hall Passes they can turn those in starting Tomorrow Mar 5th for the 5 points extra credit each.

A reminder that in order for students to receive any extra credit they must have no missing work.

I hope everyone had a great break and look forward to seeing everyone tomorrow.

Hope that helps everyone, and I am excited to meet with as many as I can over the two days.

3rd Term Midterm

We are halfway done with 3rd term already! I will be sending home progress reports with the students today with instructions for them to show the progress report to you their parents and to bring it back signed by Friday February 16th. Please note any missing assignments or assessments, if your child is certain they have completed them see if you can find it and if there is a score on it I will gladly reenter it into the computer. Assignments should be kept in the notebook which should make those easy to find, however assessments are not stored in the notebook.

  • Normally I like to present parents with the results of our start of year Interim SAGE results to let you know how that will be affecting my planning for the education of your child, however due to the recent adaptation of the new SEED standards for science there was not a SAGE science test available to take.
  • I will have a progress report for your student that will be printed out the morning of the 4th.
  • If you are bringing children, who are not students of mine, please keep them from roaming the classroom as I may have expensive equipment or lab materials out in preparation for the next day. There is a couch in the back of the room where they could sit during the conference.

Science Fair Applications

I hope that everyone is enjoying their weekend. The Science Fair Applications were due this Thursday the 28th. I have finished going through all of the ones that I have received and marking all of the complete ones. If you turned in an application and have not received an email concerning it you are most likely in a group project and I am still waiting on paperwork from one of your teammates. If that is the case I suggest that you help remind them to bring and turn in that paperwork.

If anyone has lost the paperwork and does not want to wait until Monday to get it and then turn it in on Tuesday than I recommend navigating to the website cusef.byu.edu and looking under forms for the junior division form and printing out a new copy.

I will see you on Monday!

First Notebook Check approaching!

Our first Notebook check is approaching. Both my 7th and 8th grade classes have a notebook check on this Wednesday the 13th. Please make sure that you come prepared that day. I have been placing assignments in the Return slots for the classes and updating the Table of Contents in the back of the room.

Make sure to do your Be the Teacher before class as I cannot guarantee that you will have time to do it in class. For information on how to do the Be the Teacher please reread the instructions on the top of the page. If you are still confused you can email me, or I will be explaining it to my 7th Graders tomorrow.

Soccer Applications and Webpage

Dear Parents and Students,

I have created a webpage for the soccer team where I can upload information that you will need to know. The best thing to do would be to become a subscriber to that page. As a subscribe you would get an email alert anytime I post onto the page, making it super easy for you to stay aware of what is happening with the team.
