This was today's zoom meeting! We recorded the section about Mean Absolute Deviation. At the end the students just chatted, just watch up until we finish the problem!

record share my desktop darn it you guys we have to draw it all over again that's okay let's do our mean absolute deviation Okay so there is let's do it yeah we were on this one so we're going to draw. Pot to start K so we have 5 text 9 11 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 okay now there is only one force I'm going to put an X there there's one five there is one nine there is 110 and there are two 22s hey so now that you have it set up you were going to find the mean of this data set members how to find the mean anyone I think you have Wyatt don't you like the numbers and then divide by as many numbers as there are perfect that's exactly what we do so we're going to go ahead and we're going to do which is now find and then + 9 + 10 + 22 + 22 + 9 is 18 + 2 is 20 + 2 is 22 so we put our two down 2 + 2 is 4 + 2 is 6 + 1 is 7 till 72 and then we divided by the number of data points so we do 72 / 1 2 3 4 5 6 6 dozen is 7 one time we subtract 6 goes into 12 2 * 2 * 6 is 12 answer of 0 so we know that our mean is 12 case I'm going to go to my chart here and I'm going to put a line at 12 so here's 10 11 12 aim so this is the mean and it's 12 now what we're going to fight is we're going to find on the average distance of all the points from the knee K am I always from last year it's like the the meaning of the me you're finding the average distance that each of these points are away from the the title of is called the nearest solute deviation to deviate is to go away from and she have distance from so we're seeing what is the average distance of all the points from the me so what we do is we're going to go ahead I'm going to take a here's 12 how far away from 12 is 4 so I can go ahead and ignore this one two three four five six seven eight how far from 12 is 5 it's 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 how far away from 12 is 9 it's 1 2 3 how far are we from 12 is 10 it is two points how far are we from 12 is 22 I can count it or I can see that there are 10 spaces between it right and how much 22sr there so I have to add 10 in twice so I need to add all these numbers up and after I add them up I'm going to divide by the number there are small / 1 2 3 4 5 6 I'm getting the average of the distances away from the meeting so 7 + 3/8 + 2 is 10 so that's 20 + 10 + 10 is 20 so it's going to be 40 divided by 6 okay and then that's fine.
