Welcome Back to School
I am so excited to begin a new school year. I always feel excited to meet all my new families and more importantly my students. I had a wonderful summer and hope you enjoyed your summer as well.
As we begin this year I want to take a minute to introduce myself. I am a mother of six children, two girls and four boys. I am also a grandmother of 13 beautiful grandchildren children whom I love and adore. I have spent my adult life working with children. This is my twenty-first year at Reagan Academy. I taught third grade for six years and have been in second grade for fifteen years. I don't think there is anything I would rather do than work with children. I enjoy reading, spending time with family, and occasionally catching a movie with my husband. My favorite thing to do with my husband is bike ride.
This year I would like to celebrate each child's Birthday. The students love Birthday treats and you are welcome to bring them. Please keep in mind that they need to be purchased not homemade. We have around 24 to 28 students in our class this year. I also have an Aid Mrs. Michelsen. Please remember if you send party invitations that your child should pass these out as subtly as possible. I often suggest that the students let me find a way to give the invitations to the students. Often when children find out they weren't invited there are tears and feelings are hurt.
Please take a minute to read through the welcome packet you received on back-to-school night. There is a lot of helpful information you will find there. Also, we will be preparing a "STAR Folder" for each student. It will be a plastic red pocketed folder. We train the students that this should be taken home each night and brought back each day. I can't stress the importance of this enough. It is the way your child will stay organized and feel prepared each day. It can also save you a lot of time with homework if the students make it a daily habit.
If you have any questions or would like to talk to me about your child please reach out to me. I would love to help in any way. I appreciate your support this year and look forward to working with you.
