1. Find safe and reliable information for your report:

2.  Keep track of where you find the information you use from books, magazines, the internet, or other sources. 
 
3. Organize your report - The JumpStart website goes through the structure of a report (or essay) in 3 easy steps - "Essay Writing Made Easy." 
 
4.  Most of the time, rewrite information you learned into your own words.  If you must use the exact wording from one of your sources, ALWAYS use quote marks and tell where you found the information in the body of  your report
 
5.  Make a Works Cited page (also called references, citations, or bibliography).  Bibliography.com is a website that helps you make citations which you can easily copy and paste into your report (HINT: citations are made in different formats (APA, MLA, Chicago) which changes the order of the information provided - just make sure you use the same format for every citation if your teacher didn't already assign a specific format for you).
