Hello!

I'm Mrs. Ahlborn and I teach K - 4th grade general music and 5th -8th grade orchestra. Almost the entire school!! I love music and sharing it with Reagan Academy students!

5th and 6th grade orchestra students will use the book String Basics Book 1 by Jeremy Woolstenhume and Terry Shade. The 7th/8th graders will be using String Basics Book 2 and String Basics Book 3.

I love working with my students and watching them grow!

Students are learning how to compose with a group, choosing sound to symbolize meaning, learning how to notate, listen to others perform and to perform themselves.

Students were given a description of different types of water movement such as rain, rivers, seas, oceans etc. They were asked to find instruments that could describe the sounds of those types of water as well as the descriptive words associated with those types of water.

We've been talking about water, especially rivers since that is one thing 3rd graders study in Core Knowledge. To help with their study of rivers we've been composing short little vignettes of sound that go with a water scene.
